Rules for Spectactors.

Rules
Safety comes above everything else at the Harewood Hill-climb Soapbox Challenge so please read and follow these simple rules:
Please stay off the racing course. Stay behind the barriers at all times – DO NOT go onto the race course at any time, whether there are carts running or not. There are lots of vehicle movements when carts are not racing, and gravity carts do not make any noise – so sty behind the barriers, please.

There is a very strong protective wall along the whole course. This is made of straw bales – they're perfect material for a crash barrier, as they absorb any impact and are immensely strong. Make sure you stay behind the straw bale wall at all times.

The straw bales are of course flat on top – but it's best not to sit on top of them. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PUT ANY ARMS OR LEGS ON THE RACING SIDE OF THE BALES – carts can reach 50mph, and if the marshals see any arms or legs dangling over the bale wall, they will stop the race immediately.

The hill, of course, is quite steep! - so be careful when your making your way up and down it. The paths can be bumpy in places so take care.

At the top of the hill is the pits area. You are welcome to look around, but please keep an eye out for all vehicles at all times. Carts and support vehicles will moving to and from the start area.

If you have children and/or small animals with you, please supervise them at all times. In particular make sure they are well clear of all vehicles at all times. If the marshals see any unattended children and/or small animals, they will stop the race immediately.

If you see anything or anyone you think is causing a hazard, please tell one of the marshals immediately.
Please do what the marshals tell you at all times. They are there to keep things safe, so please do what they say.

FIRST AID
We have Calder Rescue in attendance throughout the event, in case you need any first aid attention.

CAR PARKS
The event has two main parking areas on-site with an area restricted for participants. Marshals will be on hand to guide you to the next available space. Please follow the marshals instructions as this will speed up the procedure.
During the event the car park will be unattended as the marshals will be near the track so please ensure your car is secure and all valuables are kept out of sight. We cannot accept any liability for damage or theft during the event.
Vehicles will be coming and going throughout the day, so please keep aware when you are walking to and from your vehicle in the car parks.

Drive safely when you exit the car park. You will be joining a single carriage way with fast moving vehicles coming from both directions, so please take care.
